1866, Jun. 18: Title for 3600-3610 Hamilton St. transferred to Elias P. Smithers by John Magrow

 

1867, Nov. 18: Title for 3602 Hamilton St. transferred to Charles S. Muirhead by Elias P. Smithers

            The 1867 directory lists Muirhead as a conveyancer living at 1122 Girard Ave.

 

1869, Jul. 22: Title transferred to Malcolm Campbell by Charles S. Muirhead

            The 1861 Directory listed Malcolm Campbell, stockbroker, 35th below Baring which is 317 N. 35th St.. The1866 Directory: Malcolm Campbell, “Adam’s Express, h Hamilton near 33rd, Mantua.”  He is not listed in the 1867 directory which often indicates a change of address. The 1868 directory gives his address as 3206 Hamilton St. which perhaps should be 3602.

            In 1880, they boarders living at 3401 Walnut St. Malcolm listed his occupations as “mining and real estate.”  His father was born in Scotland and his mother in New Jersey.

            In 1870, they lived down the block at 3614 Hamilton St. In 1900, William was living at 3417 Hamilton St. with his second wife, Annie. In the 1910 Census and the 1906 Blue Book, he is listed at 3419 Hamilton St.

 

1883, May. 28: Death of Elizabeth Goodfellow Allen, 46 years old, the daughter of the late Robert Coane.

            In 1900 and 1910, the Borst family lived next-door at 3600 Hamilton St.

 

1892: “Mary Collins, 20 years, a domestic employed at 3602 Hamilton street, was arrested yesterday by Special Officer Henbridge, of the sixteenth police district, charged with systematically robbing her mistress, Mrs. E. Burrows. Magistrate Clarke committed her in default of bail.” (Phila. Inquirer, Nov., 11, 1892)

 

1894, Jul. 19: Title transferred to Emma L. Jenkins by William W. Allen

            In 1870, they lived at 3714 Baring St. and in 1880, they lived at 3720 Baring St. The city directories for 1887-91 list him as a partner in Wood, Brown & Co., dry goods dealers, at 822-826 Market St. and living at 3703 Powelton Ave.

            Alice Cary Jenkins was married to John Grant Fuller in 1891. In 1910, they lived at 3310Hamilton St. and in 1920 they were at 3402 Baring St. John died in 1926.

            Louisa Jenkins Bennett was the widow of Joseph S. Bennett, an estate agent. In 1920, they lived at 6310 Woodbine Ave. They had another son, Charles, who was an electrical engineer, and a daughter, Eleanor.
