3205-3207: “Circa 1865, Italianate-style three-story double, rough casting over brick. construction; rusticated quoins; porch removed. First-floor full-height windows; third-floor paired arcuated windows below large double bracketed wood cornice sheathed in metal. Flat, overhanging roof.”

1866 Directory: R. A. Pancoast, gentlewoman, Baring near 32nd

            In the 1856 Directory, Rachel Ann Pancoast was listed at 25 Chatham, Philadelphia. She was the widow of Robert T. Pancoast, a druggist.

 

1869, September: Deed transferred from Hugh McIlvaine to Rachel A. I. Pancoast.

            The 1860 census lists her living in Bristol, Bucks Co., Pa. with her two sons. She was the widow of Robert Pancoast who died in 1852.

            In 1880, the Pancoasts and the Griffiths lived at 3700 Hamilton St.

            Albina and Ida Griffith were the daughters of Josiah Siddons Griffith. Albina’s mother was Albina Carpenter Bradley. Ida’s mother was Elizabeth Walsh.

            In 1880, William E. and Minnie L. Murphy lived at 39 Sycamore St. with their two daughters.

            He was Quaker and she was not. Philadelphia Yearly Meeting began procedure to discipline him. He died March 19, 1876 in Charleston, S.C. He was living at 3618 Hamilton St. In 1880, she lived at 3700 Hamilton St.

            In 1900, Henry, Helena and Elizabeth (Bessie) McConnell lived in East Brandywine, Chester Co., Pa. where he was a farmer. Kate married James B. Ramsey in 1894. In 1900, they live at 436 N. 33rd St.

            He founded the Newman Galleries which are now run by the fifth generation of descendants of Adolph Newman at 1625 Walnut St.

            In 1880, the Hewlett family lived in Torrey, Yates Co., N.Y. where George was a farmer. The 1895 directory for Philadelphia lists him living at 519 N. 35th St.

            Alfred S. Harris and Ann G. McCall were married in the Presbyterian Church in Delaware City, New Castle Co., Del. on March 13, 1890. He was 23, the son of Amos and Eliza Harris of N.J. She was 18 and the daughter of Samuel and Susan McCall of Del. In 1920, they lived at 219 N. 35th St.

 

1912, July: Funereal for William D. Miller, father-in-law of George Scheetz, held at 3207 Baring St. Miller previously lived at 3212 Pearl St. and 3220 Lancaster Ave.
