101-107: “two-and-one-half story Second Empire style double with stone facade over brick construction. Original wood Victorian porch with shared gabled entry intact. Decorative scrolls under wood cornice. Slate-shingled mansard has four dormers with arched windowheads.

The 1872 Hopkins Atlas shows the land owned by John Shedwick. He was probably built these houses about 1874.

1875 Directory: William H. Wallace, physician

            The 1867 city directory lists William H. Wallace, M.D. at 1111 Callowhill St.

            He was the son of William Henry and Catherine Wallace who lived at 3414 Baring St. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1864. His essay was on respiration. He was also a graduate of Central High school in Philadelphia. In 1873, he married Anna Mary Linn of 231 N. 36th St. (southeast corner, 36th & Baring).

            In 1910, William applied for a passport with daughters Anna and Elizabeth. They were living in Radnor, Pa. In 1920, William, Alice and their daughter, Alice, were still living there.

 

1902: Marriage of Mary E. Wallace to Gerald Powell

            He lived with his parents at 3410 Hamilton St.

 

1910:
