105 N. 35th Street

 

101-107:  two-and-one-half story Second Empire style double with stone facade over brick construction. Original wood Victorian porch with shared gabled entry intact. Decorative scrolls under wood cornice. Slate-shingled mansard has four dormers with arched windowheads. 105 and 107, Colonial Revival porch, alterations.

The 1872 Hopkins Atlas shows the land owned by John Shedwick. He was probably built these houses about 1874.

            Alexander was the son of George and Sarah Omensetter. The 1867 city directory lists him in dry goods at 209 Market St. and living at 1534 Summer St. Sanford is listed as a clerk at the same address. The 1860 census lists Sanford as a carpenter.

 

1890 Census Veterans Schedule: Alexander Omensetter, Private, F Co., 21st Reg., Pa. Infantry, Sep., 1862 - Sept. 1863.

 

1894, Jan. 8: Death of Alexander Omensetter. Funeral services at his late residence, 105 N. 35th St. Burial at West Laurel Hill Cemetery.

F. invited to attend funeral at his late residence, 105 N. 35th St. Burial at Leverington cemetery.
