The History of the Building

 

3828-3832: “two-story, two-register brick rowhouses; corbelled brick consoles; wood cornices. 3830 clad with permastone. — Contributing.”

“Windows: Original trim survives; sash unknown (replacements). Addition: Two story, one bay stucco addition on rear (south) elevation, visible on west side… Molded wood cornice along north façade reduced to flat wood fascia on west (side) elevation; modern stucco added to north façade at

foundation.”

            The 1878 directory lists Cyrus living at 3913 Rockland St. (now Brandywine).

 

1884-1885 Directories: Nixon Cyrus B., engineer (listed as 3836)

            The 1887 and 1890 directories list him living next door as 3832 (listed as 3838). The 1888 directory lists him here, but this is probably an error.

 

1890 Directory: Harris Thomas E.

Mulhern John F., plumber, John P. Mulher & Bro., 3806 Haverford Ave. (listed as 3836)

            Mulhern previously lived at 3826 Hamilton St. with other family members including his brother and business partner, John P. Mulhern.

 

1891 Directory: Harris T. Edward, solicitor

 Mulhern John F., plumber

 

1892 Directory: Harris Thomas E., salesman

            The 1894 directory lists him as a clerk living at 3815 Warren St.
