Directory (compiled in fall, 1862): Edward S. Howell, agent
1863, January 14: 3704 & 3706 were surveyed (along with 3716
& 3718) for insurance by The Philadelphia Contributionship for the
Insurance of Houses from Loss by Fire. They were owned by William P. Hamm.

archives.) He lived at 206 N. 35th St.

Directory: Elbert Kochersperger, clerk
In
1860, they lived in Ward 20, Division 1. The 1850 census showed him living with
his mother, Jane. In both censuses, he was listed as a clerk. However, the 1861
Directory has two listings for Elbert Kockersperger, botanical druggist: one at
7 S. 6th and the other at 246 S. 8th.

Rudolph Hering was the son of
Theresa and Constantine Hering, a physician. They were born in Saxony. When his
mother died in 1916, the funeral was held at the Church of the New Jerusalem
(Swedenborg) at 22nd and Chestnut Sts. Rudolph was born in
Philadelphia in 1847. In 1894, he was living in New York City. About that time,
he married his second wife, Hermina, who was born in Russia. By 1900, they had
two children in addition to his two sons.
1882: Rudolph Hering. Civil Engineer. Member of Am. Society of
Civil Engineers since 1/5/1876.
Rudolph Hering (1847-1923) is known
as the founder of modern environmental technology, and as the father of modern
municipal sewerage systems. There is a short piece about him in Wikipedia and a
very interesting obituary at the site for West Laurel Hill Cemetery.

The 1880 census shows him living in
Media, Pa. with his wife, Josephine, their two daughters, and a servant. He was
a petroleum producer.

Death of Isaac Lawrence Haldeman, 56 years old, of 3704 Baring St.. He was born
in Media, Pa. He was buried at the Providence Friends Cemetery in Media.

Katherine Armstrong in 1915. In 1910, she lived with her parents at 3709 Baring St. He was living at 5913 Cobb's Creek
Boulevard.
Harry was Lucian A. Hauslein’s
brother. In 1920, Harry and a younger brother, Ferdinand, were living at 3709 Baring St. with Lucian’s parents-in-law.

Lucien
Albert Hauslein was a 1916 graduate of the Towne Scientific College of the
University of Pennsylvania. He was from Denton, Texas. He and Katharine
Armstrong were married in Philadelphia in 1815. Her parents were William
Jackson Armstrong and Mary Elizabeth Amstler. In 1900, she lived with them at
4033 Baring St. John’s full name was Jackson Armstrong Hauslein.

The 1950 directory lists L. A.
Hauslein, Lincoln Liberty and Hauslein Insurance Agency, 316 Walnut St. They
had apparently moved out of the city.

1940 May: Ann Hauslein, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Lucien Hauslein of 3704 Baring St. was a sophomore at Sweet Briar College.
She was on the Dean’s list, served on the Advisory Council, and was a varsity
hockey player. (Inquirer)
1940, July 7: Mrs. L. A. Hauslein and her
daughter, Miss Ann Hauslein, have left for Ocean City, where they will spend
part of the summer. Mrs. Hauslein’s son, Mr. Jackson A. Hauslein, has left for
a trip through Mexico and California. (Inquirer)
In July of 1942, Lucien A. Hauslein
registered for the draft. He gave his address as 262 Kent Rd., Wynnewood. He
was working for the Louis F. Paret Agency in Philadelphia.
