1889 Directory: Walsh James J., furniture at 3737 Lancaster Ave., home 3811 Lancaster Ave.

 

1894: “James Walsh’s big installment house, No. 3737 Lancaster avenue, is not only well established, having been located at this place for the past ten years, but well-known throughout West Philadelphia by reason of the full line of furniture, carpets, crockeryware, dry goods, shoes, ladies’ garments, etc., which owing to the near approach of the holidays are marked down to the lowest prices, consistent with good materials. You can obtain a fine assortment here at easy payments. This plan has been prominently placed before the public of this section of the city largely through the efforts of Mr. Walsh.” (Inquirer, Dec. 16)

            Their son, John, died in 1889 when they lived at  3811 Lancaster Ave. He was 27 and born in Ireland. He was a seaman. In 1910, they lived at 3704 Baring St.
