3300-02: “two-and-one-half, story Victorian double;
stone facade, large gables with arcuated attic window at roofline of 3300 and
smaller gable at roofline of 3302. Each has elaborately-milled porch
latticework, turned posts and balustrades; porches wrap around to front (3300)
and from the front to the side (3302)”

block of land from Charles Ingersoll, et al. April 30, 1856.

The 1870 directory lists him at 1704
Park. He and his wife, Francis, were both 45 years old. Daughter, Clara, was 20.
She was a soprano who appeared at performances at the Academy of Music. Son
Charles, 20, taught at his father’s school. They also had a two-year-old,
Francis, who became an artist and teacher in Santa Clara, California.
In 1868, H. Y. Lauderbach left his
job as principal of the Northwest Public Grammar School to start a private
academy.

lists H. Y. Lauderbach living at 3201 Arch St.
1877: Death of Catherine Campbell, 81 years old, widow of Captain
Malcolm Campbell, mother-in-law of Charles L. Pascal. The Pascal family
previous lived at 315 N. 35th St. By
September, 1878, when Charles Pascal died, they were living at 3705 Walnut St.,
a “first-class” boarding house.

Enoch Spruance Farson and Lavinia
Hackett were married in Philadelphia in 1842. The 1866 Directory lists Enoch S.
Farson, refrigerator manufacturer, 220 Dock St. His company, E. S. Farson & Co.
(Enoch S. Farson & Henry A. Brown), was next door at 222 Dock St. The 1861
Directory lists the company as selling “house furnishing goods.” In 1861, Farson probably lived at
Lavinia Farson married M H. Davis in
Philadelphia, February 13, 1877. They were married by Magistrate Thorp (Inquirer, Sept. 25, 1877)
In 1887, Enoch Farson and his son
Enoch Jr. were both listed at 3606 Powelton Ave.
“Mr. [Robert Evans] Hannum [Jr.] married at Marcus Hook,
Pennsylvania, June 27, 1866, Mary E. Farson, born in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, in 1845, daughter of Enoch S. Farson, a sea captain, later in the
refrigerating business in Philadelphia, and his wife, Lavinia (Hackett) Farson,
both deceased.”

Helen Vanderveer Scuddy Cochran was
born in Madras, India. Her father and grandfather were Presbyterian medical
missionaries in India and Ceylon. She died April 11, 1914
at the age of 45. They were living in Swarthmore.

and the girls were still living there in 1940.

was at 3732 Powelton Ave. In 1910, when he was three years-old with his mother
at his grandparents’ house, 4028 Aspen St. His mother was 31 years-old and had
been married for 4 years. She was a dressmaker. His grandfather was an engineer
for the railroad. His father was born in England but was not living with them.
In 1920, she stated she was widowed.

of dental practice by the Philadelphia County Dental Society.” (Phila. Tribune, June 13)
In 1930, Santonio Francis Riley lived at 1045 South St. He was
African American, born in Arkansas about 1896 and was single. In 1940, he and
his wife, Eva, were living at 2453 N. 17th St. She was born in N.
Carolina.
