1890 Directory: Charles Gilpin, Jr.

            He was the son of former Mayor, Charles Gilpin. In 1880, he lived with his wife and two children at 3631 Hamilton St. The 1895 directory lists him living at 107 N. 34th St. In 1900, he lived at 908 S. 40th St.

 

1884 Directory: John B. Trimble, salesman

                         Joseph Trimble

                         Joseph R. Trimble, secretary at 242 S. 3rd St.

                         Samuel C. Trimble, [Jr?], bookkeeper

   He was probably the son of Mary A. Timble, widow of Samuel C., who lived at 3208 Chestnut St.

            John B. and Joseph R. were the sons of Joseph Trimble. In 1870, the Trimble family lived at 3517 Hamilton St. John B. Trimble died in 1890 when he was living at 3605 Baring St.

 

1884, July 30: Death of Joseph Trimble, 70 years old, of 212 N. 33rd St.

            “Joseph Trimble, of 212 North Thirty-third street, who died on Wednesday, was a prominent member of the Masonic Order. He was at one time Grand Master of the Masons of New Jersey. He became prominent as a Mason in Camden, where he resided more than twenty years ago, and Tremble Lodge, No. 117, was named after him. He resided many years in Moorestown.”  (Inquirer, Aug. 1, 1884)

 

1893: George Gilpin, Jr. was elected to serve as a director of the Powelton Club.

            Anna was the widow of Thomas Henry Wentz, M.D. who died a few months earlier (Jan. 29, 1910). In 1918, Anna and Joseph were living at 3316 Arch St.

 

1910: Marriage license issued to Alleta M. Wentz and George M. Marshall of 221 N. 33rd St. (3234 Powelton Ave.)

 

1911: Marriage license issued to Mary H. Wentz and Wade McCall Johnson

 

1912: D. Fuller Stewart was a member of the Tenth Presbyterian Church at 38th and Hamilton Sts.

            The 1916 directory lists him at 3420 Race St.
