The northern edge of this
property was part of the northern boundary of the Bingham-Baring estate.
3501-03: “Second
Empire-style double, stone facade over brick, double. First-floor projecting
bays, slate mansard and dormer; 3503 has circa 1890 two-and-one-half story
entrance addition with corbelled brick cornice, Victorian wood porch. Double
bracketed wood cornice”

1868, September: Deed transferred from Jacob Haines to Mary
Carley.
The deed for the twin was
transferred the next month.
The 1867 directory lists two Jacob
Haines. One lived at 521 N. 37th St. The second was a carpenter who
lived at 1015 Crease.
1874, March: Deed transferred from Francis D. & Mary Grace
(wife) Carley to James Jarrard.
The 1870 directory lists Jarrard as
a grocer living at 405 N. 35th St. The census lists him as a 40
year-old retired grocer, born in N.J. with $5,000 in personal property. He
lived with his wife Harriet (30) and their son, Oliver (6). The 1874 directory
lists him living at 3111 Bridge (Spring Garden). In 1880, he lived in Mauch
Chunk, Carbon Co., Pa. where he was a hotel clerk.

M. Perry M.D. was the son of Benjamin F. Perry, the pro-Union provisional
governor of S.C. following the Civil War. In 1880, he was living at 3424
Haverford where he was renting (ED 488, 5). He was 28 years old, single and
born in S.C. In 1900, his wife and their 7 children (including Hext M., Jr.)
were living in W.D.C. Their first 6 children (ages 8-17) were born in S.C.
Their youngest (age 4) was born in W.D.C. They were apparently still married,
but he was not with them at the time of the census. In 1907, he was living in

Eugen Makariw was born in Ukraine
and immigrated in October 1956. He was sponsored by Gertrude Scott of 3610
Baring St. He worked as a mechanic.
1959, Jun. 1: Death of Eugene Makariw, 29 years
old, of 3401 Hamilton St. He was killed "when he was tossed from a
foreign-made car in a head-on collision with another vehicle" (Inquirer,
June 2)
