mansard. First floor full-height windows have been replaced by aluminum-sided
projecting bay. Original wood, part removed; metal substituted. Scroll-shaped
and simple bracketed cornice below mansard which has four dormers with arched
window heads.”

Albert Savage did not list an
occupation. In
1880, he and William and Henry Savage (apparently his older brothers) were
boarders at 1205 Walnut St. They were
all lawyers. The 1898 directory lists
him around the corner at 201 N. 35th St.
In August 1902, the New York Times reported that “Lieut.
Joseph H. Dent of the Forty-seventh Infantry, United States Army [and 202 N. 35th St.], who returned from the
Philippine Islands, came to Atlantic City to-day to claim his bride, Miss. Anna
E. C. Savage.”

The
three adults also lived here in 1935.
In 1910,
Anna and Joseph Dent were living with her maternal grandparents in
Baltimore. Joseph worked as a bookkeeper
and, later, an auditor. When he died in
the 1920s around age 50, Anna moved back to Philadelphia with three of their
five children. In 1930, they lived at
2113 Porter St.
1942, Oct. 15: Death of Albert L. Savage
in Ventnor, N.J. His estate was tentatively valued at $225,00 and upwards. (Inquirer,
