1887 Dir.: Samuel W. Latta, physician

            In 1880, he was living with his mother and siblings at 3500 Hamilton St. A list of his earlier and later addresses can be found there.

 

1889:  Samuel Latta presented a paper at the annual meeting of the American Public Health Association held in Brooklyn, Oct., 1889 entitled "Railway Sanitation." He was the medical examiner Pennsylvania Railroad Voluntary Relief Department.

            By 1895, the Latta family had moved to 3626 Baring St.

 

1898 Directory: Albert D. Savage

            In 1900 and into the 1920s, he lived around the corner at 3425 Race St.

 

1901-‘02 Directories: William H. Reid of Reid & Fort (W. H. Reid & Pierson T. Fort), men's furnishing at 1121 Market St.

            The 1900 census lists him as a single boarder living at 1314 Arch St. He was 30 years-old, born in N.J., and a shirt maker. In 1910, he was married (for 13 years) with two children (ages 11 and 3) and living at 4402 Locust St.

In 1900, they lived with her brother at 3722 Baring St. In 1910, they were living at 1206 S. 46th St. In 1923, Josephine Garber, daughter of Herbert and Lily Hoffman Garber, married John N. P. Easby, 3316 Powelton Ave.

            Warren Carter married Josephine Barnard Mitchell December 6, 1892 at the Arch St. Quaker Meetinghouse in Philadelphia. She died December 23, 1905 in Philadelphia. Anna and Josephine were the daughters of Charles W. Mitchell. In 1870, they were living at 3318 Spring Garden St.

 

1921 Directory: George Logan, student

 Mary E. Logan, widow of William

                         Mary E. Logan, teacher

            Mary E. Logan was born in 1858 in Delaware; her parents were born in Ireland. In 1900 and 1910, she and her husband, William F. Logan, lived in Chester, Delaware Co., Pa. In 1910, he was a 50 year-old pattern maker with his own shop. She reported having had 7 children and 5 were surviving. The oldest was named after her, Mary E. (26) who worked as a stenographer for an engineering co.; the youngest was George (13). In January, 1920, the census listed her living at 4631 Broad St., Philadelphia. She was widowed and living with three daughters and her youngest, George.

 

1922: Owen L. Broadbent’s passport application lists them at this address. In 1910, they lived across the street at 204 N. 35th St. (See biographical notes and photos there.)

 

1929, May 10: Death of Owen L. Broadbent, 70 years old

 

1930:

Elizabeth B. Keen       82        Widowed; born in England; owner, house valued at $8,000

            In 1900 and 1910, she lived at 204 N. 35th St. with her sister and brother-in-law.

 

1935, Dec. 12: Death of Elizabeth B. Keen (Kershaw), 86 years old

 

1970, March: 201-211 N 35th St. purchased by Drexel University.
