            George Herbert was born in Enstone, Oxfordshire, England. He and Diana (or Diane or Dinah). immigrated in the mid-1850s. The 1867 & 1868 directories list him next door in the twin, 3305 Hamilton St. In 1860, they lived at 108 N. 35th St. He was a “plaster master.”  In 1880, they lived at 3728 Lancaster Ave. George died in Philadelphia in 1895. In 1900 and 1910, Diana was listed as a patient at the State Hospital for the Insane in Norristown where she died in 1912.

            In 1880, they were both living at 119 N. 33rd St.

 

            Martha Sellers died in Dec. 1899. She was the sister of Mary Sellers Bancroft (3300 Baring St.), John Sellers (3300 Arch St.), and William Sellers.             In 1920, they lived in Lower Merion.

            In 1900, Wilfred Bancroft lived with his parents at 3310 Hamilton St. Wilfred was the grand-nephew of Martha Sellers (see above) and the grandson of Mary Sellers Bancroft (see Powelton Post, March, 2009). The previous resident, Alexander Sellers, was his first cousin.
