Herbert was born in Enstone, Oxfordshire,
England. He and Diana (or Diane or Dinah). immigrated in the mid-1850s. The
1867 & 1868 directories list him next door in the twin, 3305 Hamilton St. In 1860, they lived at 108 N. 35th St. He was a “plaster
master.” In 1880, they lived at 3728
Lancaster Ave. George died in Philadelphia in 1895. In 1900 and 1910, Diana
was listed as a patient at the State Hospital for the Insane in Norristown
where she died in 1912.
