314-336 N. 31st St. were acquired by the Penlaun Corp. between about 1947-1950. The houses were torn down and the area sold to the Pennsylvania Laundry Co. about 1951.

1868 Directory: Samuel Blair, foreman

            The 1867 directory lists him at 3102 Baring St. In 1870, he lived at 3209 Baring St. with his wife (Mary R. Zeig) and their daughter. He was 46.

Fanny Climenson         25

            In 1860, they were living in Honey Brook, Chester, Pa. John was a carriage maker with real estate valued at $1,800 and personal property worth $400. Fanny was listed as Mary F. The 1866 tax assessment lists John in Honey Brook as a cattle broker along with Edmund Climenson.

            In 1880, Frank was living at 3832 Sycamore (later Transcript which no longer exists). He was married with a young son.

 Rosina Welsch, widow of Jacob

1877 Directory: Louis J. Kolbe, Jr. surgical instruments 15 S. 9th St.

            With the death of his father, Dietrich Kolbe, in 1878, Louis and his family moved into the family house, 323 N. 32nd St.

 

1897, Feb. 18: Death of Richard Sleeman, 64 years old, born in Ireland; railroad employee

 

1940:

Ferdinando Potere       52        Track foreman for railroad; born in Italy; lived here in 1935; 8 years of schooling

Felonane Potere           44        Born in Italy; lived here in 1935; 8 years of schooling

Margarite Carnevale     19        Sister-in-law; born in Italy; lived in Isernia, Italy in 1935; 2 years of schooling

            In 1942, he registered for the draft from 6532 Harlan St.
