3822-24 Hamilton: “three-story dark brick rowhouse with brownstone sills and lintels; carved wood surrounds; band of angled red and tan brick below dentillated brick and metal cornice.”

1880:

Edward H. Ashmore                33        Railroad conductor; born in N.J.

Elizabeth Ashmore                  29 [sic.] [She was probably 39]

Maude Ashmore                        2        Daughter; father born in N.J.

Annie Kipple                           11        Daughter; father born in Pa.

            Elizabeth Riley married Jonathan A. Kipple at the First Independent Church in Philadelphia on Aug. 18, 1863. The second enumeration of the 1870 census lists him living in the household of Anna Riley, age 50, at 3333 Market St. The city directories list him as a painter. He was born in Ireland. He died Oct. 19, 1871 at age 30.

            Edward H. Ashmore and Elizabeth Kipple were married at Asbury Methodist Episcopal church on Aug. 21, 1876. The 1893 directory lists Elizabeth A. Ashmore, widow of Edward H., living at 7016 Keystone, Taconey. He was buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery on Aug. 1, 1892.

A.     Lincoln Priestley, Priestly Printing Co., 3832 Lancaster Ave.

            The 1900 census lists Thomas Jefferson, Mary B, and Thomas J., Jr. at 3841 Hamilton St. Thomas, Sr. had been unemployed for 9 months. Abraham Lincoln Priestley was another son.
