3816-3820:
“three-story, two-register brick rowhouse. Wood lintels, sills and box cornice.
Victorian wood porches and first-floor full-height windows… Third-floor windows of 3816 altered.”

1874, Oct. 3: Title transferred to Benjamin H. Pittfield
by John W. Levery (plot 56N190073)
The 1870 census lists B. H. Pittfield, a 48-year-old bank clerk. He owned
$40,000 in real estate and had $5,000 in personal property.

Elizabeth
Riley married Jonathan A. Kipple at the First
Independent Church in Philadelphia on Aug. 18, 1863. The second enumeration of
the 1870 census lists him living in the household of Anna Riley, age 50, at
3333 Market St. The city directories list him as a painter. He was born in
Ireland. He died Oct. 19, 1871 at age 30.
Edward
H. Ashmore and Elizabeth Kipple were married at
Asbury Methodist Episcopal church on Aug. 21, 1876. The 1893 directory lists
Elizabeth A. Ashmore, widow of Edward H., living at 7016 Keystone, Taconey. He was buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery on Aug. 1,
1892.
1885, Jan. 14: Title transferred to Amanda Jane Hagee [?] by
Benjamin H. Pittfield
1897: “An enjoyable dance was given early in the week by Mr. and
Mrs. Cooper Wells McLearn, in honor of their
daughter, Miss Marguerite McLearn, at their home,
3816 Hamilton street. The dance room was tastefully decorated with holly. Among
the guests were. Miss Mabel Petzelt,… Mis Marguerite
and Virginia McLearn;… Mr. Warren McLearn,…
