The History of the Building

 

3630-3632: “three-story, two-register brick houses; 3632 is a corner first-floor commercial property. Pressed brick bands join the lintels at the second and third floors. Arches are. splayed brick. Pressed brick decorates the slightly flared roof line. The original porch has been removed”

            In 1880, they were living in Southampton, Bucks County where J. Wesley Evans was a farmer.  He died January 2, 1910 when they were living at 1516 Moore St.

            In 1910, Margaret Bartram lived with her brother, William M. Bartram, and his family at 3628 Powelton Ave.  William Bartram died in 1916 when they were living at 3632 Powelton Ave.  In 1920,

John G. Comyns          47        Salesman in a department store; married at age 22; parents born in N. Ireland; owner, house valued at $12,000

Lulu Comyns               43        married at age 18; born in Delaware, father born in N.J., mother born in Ireland [sic.]

Marian Comyns           37        Sister; private secretary

George Heisler             72        Father-in-law; married at age 22; born in N.J., mother born in Delaware

Louis Ambler               22        Lodger

Irene Barringer            29        Lodger; office clerk; born in Ohio

            In 1920, John and Lulu Comyns lived with George Heisler and his wife at 3628 Powelton Ave.
