17: Title for 3607-3613 Baring St. transferred to Samuel P. Ferree by Jacob
Haines and Goldbrick, et al.
Samuel
P. Ferree was a real estate investor. In the 1870 census he listed his
occupation as “retired merchant” although he was only 34. He lived at 3514 Spring Garden St. His father, James B.
Ferree, who lived at 3404 Spring Garden St.
was also a real estate investor.
1869, Sep.
30: Title transferred to Nathan Stretch by Samuel P. Ferree
Nathan
Stretch was a carpenter and builder who lived at 3734 Haverford Ave. (Mantua).
In the 1870 census, he claimed real estate valued at $2,000 and personal
property valued at $1,000.
3607-09: “two-and-one-half
story, Second Empire-style double. Porch removed; slate shingles of mansard
replaced with asphalt. Double bracketed cornice. Stone facade over brick. Same
developer as 3611-13.”

funeral services at his late residence,” 3607 Baring St. (Phila. Inquirer, 9/5/1911)
“Brother Price was born in Port
Glenone, County Entronie, Ireland, February 14, 1857, and died at his home,
3607 Baring Street, Philadelphia, September 3, 1911. The funeral was held
Wednesday afternoon, September 6, under the auspices of Potter Lodge, No. 441,
F. & A. M. Brother Price conducted a retail grocery store at 25th &
Callowhill Streets, after which he entered wholesale grocery, which he
continued for fourteen years. Tumor on brain caused his demise, and surviving
him are his wife, one son, ten years of age, and three sisters In Ireland.
Brother Price was a very prominent member of St.
Andrew's Episcopal Church; a member of West Philadelphia Business Men's
Association; Philadelphia Bourse; Trades' League, and Wholesale Grocers'
Association. Interment was made at West Laurel Hill Cemetery.”

them. Mary’s father was a railroad engineer. He died in 1917. In 1900 and 1910,
the Connor family lived at 3929 Fairmount Ave. Before her marriage, Mary was a
teach at St. Agatha’s Parochial School, 38th and Spring Garden Sts.

died Friday in Presbyterian Hospital after an illness of three months. She was
58.
“Mrs. Garvey, who before her
marriage was a teacher at St. Agatha’s Parochial School, 38th and
Spring Garden sts., was well known in Catholic social and charity circles.
“Besides
her husband, she is survived by a son, John F. Garvey, now in the Navy, and two
