“three-story, Italianate double, stuccoed; cruciform
plan; front and side Victorian wood porch; entrance in cross arm. Large bracketed
overhanging roof. Paired arcuated third-floor windows. Decorative cast iron
lintels over second-floor windows. Rusticated stone quoins.”

1866 Directory: Francis K. Shipper,
merchant, 220 N. Broad, h Bridge n 34th
The 1861 Directory lists him living
at 322 Catherine St. The 1857 Directory list him at 166 Queen St.
“Francis K. Shipper, Abraham Detweiler,
and Isaac Detweiler, partners doing business as Shipper & Detweiler… were
commission merchants and dealers in grain and flour, citizens of Pennsylvania,
and residents in Philadelphia. They owned a flouring-mill in Wheeling, at which
they ground grain, purchased by them in Ohio and the vicinity of Wheeling,
including Washington county, Pennsylvania. They carried this flour and grain
from various states of the Union by water to Pittsburgh, and there delivered
it… for transportation to Philadelphia.” (Pennsylvania

Was about 67 years of age when he died.”
