three-story red brick rowhouse with stone facade; modillioned wood cornice likely built at same time as rear addition to 3209; the two are now connected by fire escape apparatus. The stone-faced, enclosed porch is a twentieth century addition.”

            Louisa Gowen was the daughter of Edward Gowen. She died at the Philadelphia Asylum in 1909 at age 90 from “mental disease and heart.”

Minnie Geitz    74        Mother-in-law; widowed, 5 children, 3 surviving; born in Germany

            Frank H. Lees and Ida K. Geitz were married in Philadelphia in 1898. In 1900, Frank & Ida lived with Frank’s father, Samuel Lees, at 3410 Spring Garden St. where Frank grew-up.

            Minnie Geitz may be the Wilhemine M. Geitz who lived with her daughter and son-in-law Caroline A. and John E. Woosson at 2420 N. 32nd St.

 

1917 Draft Card: Donald McIlvaine of McIlvaine Bro., drug manufacturer at 1500 Hamilton St. Married with one child.

            He is the son of A. R. McIlvaine and grew up next door at 3209 Baring St.

 

1928, Mar. 11: Death of Dionision Mario Martinez, 90 years old. He was born in Matanzas Prouince of Matanzar, Cuba. He worked as an interpreter.

            In 1920, he and three children, Isabella, Fermina and Ignatius lived at 2161 29th St.  He, Isabella and Fermina immigrated in 1873 and became citizens in 1880. His wife died in 1914.

            Isabella Martinez died in 1958. She was living at 3305 Hamilton St.

 

1940, May. 26: Death of Fermina Martinez, 67 years old.
