The History of the Buildings

 

“Circa 1890. three-story Victorian red brick rowhouses with splayed brick lintels, pressed brick belt course and decorative tiles. Corbelled brick cornice. 3213 and 3215 porch removed; .3217porch original; 3219 and 3221 have circa 1940 wrought iron.

            Mary Margaret Berry and Michael J. Keily got a marriage license in Philadelphia in 1897.  She died Dec. 9, 1905 when they were living at 3211 Powelton Ave.

David Hargreaves Roche was a Private in K Co., 14th Pennsylvania Cavalry from April, 1861 to June 1865.  The 1897 directory lists him at 602 N. 32nd St.  He died July 9, 1906 when they were living at 3211 Powelton Ave.

1942, Nov. 26: Death of James Henry Howard, 55 years old. He was born in Mauch Chunk, Pa.  Burial was a Holy Cross Cemetery.

            In 1880, Charles and Mary Willis lived with May and her first husband at 3410 Hamilton St.  In 1910, May Reese was widowed and living at 4439 Chestnut St. with A. Willis Eckert and Lillian and William B. Bloodgood.  Berch T. Reece was the son of Frank and Lydia Reese.  Frank was a hotel keeper.  In 1880, they lived at 4106 Haverford Ave.  Berch died in 1907 while living in New York City.  The funeral was held at the home of his mother, 3857 Lancaster Ave., Philadelphia.  In 1930, May Reese and her son, Alfred Willis Eckert, were living in East Orange, Essex, New Jersey.

 

1906, Apr. 3: Death of Mary A. Willis, daughter of William J. and Ann Smith; burial at Fairview Cemetery
