1860, Aug. 24: Title for property sold for $1,850 to Mary Ann (Edson) Stewart, wife of Rudolph K. Stewart, by John Shedwick and wife with a building built by Shedwick.

            The 1861 directory lists Rudolph K. Stewart selling trimmings at the southeast corner of Chestnut and 8th St. and living at 754 S. 10th St.

 

1870:

            Until the late 1860s, they lived at 311 N. 33rd St. Their son, Florence W. Grugan, continued living there with his wife and children.

 

1882: Title for Property transferred to Clara V. Stewart by will of Mary Ann Stewart

 

1910:

Ida O’Brien                 51        Married 11 years, 7 children, 6 surviving

John H. Peck               29        Step-son; railroad blacksmith

Annie Peck                  32        Married 7 years, 3 children, 1 surviving

James Carroll               66        Boarder; railroad janitor; widowed; born in Ireland, immigrated in 1847

            Note: John and Ann’s child was not listed here. Francis’s place of birth was misstated.

            In 1900, they lived at 418 N. 31st St.

 

1917: George W. Peck registered for the draft. He was widowed with two children. In 1910, he lived at 312 N. 31st with his wife and [step?] daughter, Maria. He was a steam heat inspector for the Pennsylvania Railroad. His wife, Fannie (Smith) Peck died in 1915. He was killed in action on Sept. 27, 1918 during WWI. He was a Private in the Army.

 

1920:

Claude C. Peck            37        Step-son; forester for City of Philadelphia; married

William M. Peck          35        Step-son; salesman of books, teeth, etc.

George W. Peck [Jr.]      9        Step-grandson

            In 1930, they lived at 1695 N. 56 St. which they owned. Maria and George were the children of George W., Sr.
