1894, Sep. 17: Death of Turrell Tuttle, 83 years old; burial at Mt. Vernon

 

1895, Nov. 18: Death of Elizabeth A. Tuttle, 65 years old

            Elizabeth and Turrell Tuttle were the parents of Mary E. Drinkhouse and Blanche E. McCalla. In 1880, they lived at 3613 Hamilton St.

            The 1887 and 1890 directories list Henry Drinkhouse at 3217 Powelton Ave. and Stephen McCalla was listed there in 1887. They were members of The Church of the Savior (Episcopal).

            In 1880, the Drinkhouse and McCalla couples lived at 3613 Hamilton St. with the Tuttles. In 1910, they lived at 3314 Arch St.

 

1905 Directory: Joyce Darly [sic.?] B.

            The 1906 directory lists Sara as “manager.” Sarah Emma Joyce She was the daughter of Henry Brubaker and Emeline Philson. She was born in Somerset Co., Pa. in 1857. She had 8 years of schooling. She married William Frederick Joyce in 1893. They had one child, Albert Brubaker Joyce, who died in 1901 at age 5. In 1910, she lived with her brother, Albert P. Brubaker, and his family at 105 N. 34th St. He was a professor of medicine. The 1920 census lists her as Matron of a dormitory at 3424 Powelton Ave. She was widowed and. In 1930, she lived with Albert again, this time at 3426 Powelton Ave. In 1940, thy lived at 109 N. 34th. She died there in 1941.

            In 1930, they lived at 4016 Baring St. In that census, the name was spelled Pearcy. Lavinia was married to Henry Pearcy who was 11 years her senior. He was born in Kentucky and was a lineman working in general construction. They also had a 4-year-old daughter, D. Mae.
