aka 337/437 N. 37th St.

The History of the Building

The map of Blockley Twp by S.M. Rea & J. Miller published about 1850 does not indicate any building on the south side of Bridge St. (now Spring Garden St.) anywhere near here. The Scott’s Atlas published about 1856 indicates a building on 37th St. slightly below Bridge St. It is possible that this is the two-story section behind the main three-story house at the corner.

“Circa 1850, three-story, two-register Greek Revival house with small third-floor windows. Circa 1890 restoration; parapet- raised over third-floor windows and Colonial Revival pediments added. Modillioned wood cornice with pendants. Circa 1915 Traymore brick shopfront.”
