1910, Joseph lived in North Jackson, Lebanon Co., Pa. where he was working as a
stenographer. He was living with his
brother, Alex, who was an engineer at an oil station.

Foster
Lewis Beatty was the son of James Hunter Beatty and Mabel Latch. He was born in Bryn Mawr,
Pa. April 27, 1897. In 1900, they lived in
Haverford, Pa. where James was a farm laborer.
In 1918, Foster registered for the draft when he lived in Devon, Pa.
where he was working for George Wharton Pepper.
Pepper founded the law firm of Pepper, Hamilton. In 1920, Foster was single and working as the
chauffeur for Pepper at his center city home, 1730 Pine St. In 1922, Pepper was
appointed to the U.S. Senate to fill a vacancy.
