The History

 

The Bromley Atlases of  City of Philadelphia for 1895 and 1918 show 3202 Hamilton as a “stable.” It is on property belonging to the house at 3301 Baring St. 

 

1910:

Michael Sheehan 45         Butler for a private family; born in Ireland, immigrated 1882, is a naturalized citizen; renting

Margareth Sheehan        40         Married 13 years, no children; born in Ireland, immigrated 1888 (?)

            Michael Sheehan was probably the butler for Coleman Sellers, Jr. who lived at 3301 Baring St.

 

1931: “R. Easter has taken title to the following properties… two-story brick stable, 3302 Hamilton street, lot 30 x 104 feet, assessed at $2,500….” (Inquirer, Oct.22)

 

The Philadelphia Real Estate Record and Builders' Guide for June, 13, 1934 lists the awarding of a contract for alterations or additions to a warehouse at this address for the Fidelity-Philadelphia Trust Co.  The contractor was Louis Rosengarten.

 

1942: The stable at 3302 Hamilton St. was conveyed by the Fidelity-Philadelphia Trust Co., trustee, to E. Huntzinger. The lot was 30x104 and was assessed at $2,900. (Inquirer, Nov. 1)

 

1964, Sept. Powelton Post: “Richard and Mary Dunn are moving into their new home at 3302 Hamilton.  Dick is a history professor at Penn.”

 

1970, Autumn, New members of Powelton Civil Homeowners: Mr. & Mrs. Richard S. Dunn
