3200-3206 “Three-story, two-register Victorian brick rowhouses…. first floor original wood porches intact except for 3200, where removed; balustrade altered on 3202; full-height first floor windows and doors have splayed brick lintels; pressed brick belt courses at second and third floors; stone lintels and sills at second floor windows; third floor windows have rusticated brick spandrels, recessed decorative brick spandrels below and stone lintels above; pressed brick panels below flat roof line.”

History of 3206 Powelton Avenue

 

1890 Directory: G. William Pine of Pine Bros.

            George Wilhelm Pine and Ida Berman were married Sept. 2, 1885 at Salem Zion United Church of Christ in Philadelphia. He was 36 and she was 25.

 

1894 Directory: George W. [Sr.] Pine of Pine Brothers, confectioners at 106 S. 11th St.

            The 1887 directory lists him living at 232 Jacoby with a store at 1033 Chestnut St. He was partners with Charles Schmidt in G. W. Pine & Co., confectioner. The 1878 directory lists him with Pine Bros. He was one of the Pine Brothers who were known for their cough drops.

            In 1920, Ida, Elmer, Edith and George Pine lived at 5016 Catherine St. Ida (Bermann) Pine died there in June 1936

 

1921, Feb. 9: Marriage license issued to Clara R. Mathews and George William Pine of 3206 Powelton Ave.

            In 1930, they were living at 3709 Hamilton St.
