1863, May 1 IRS Annual List: Isaac W. Allyn, income: $186, tax: $5.58.

 

1867 Directory: Isaac W. Allyn of Allyn & Jewett (Isaac W. Allyn & James B. Jewett), brokers at 105 Chestnut

            (The 1865 directory lists him under “Allen.”)

 

1867, Jun. 24: Title for 312-318 N. 37th St. transferred to Elizabeth J. Askin by George E. Askin

            On the same day, he transferred title to 3708-3712 Baring St. to her.

            George E. Askin and Elizabeth J. Askin were siblings of J. Henry Askin.  They were early investors in and residents of Powelton having moved to 3509 Baring St. in late 1858/59.  The family sold much of their Powelton properties in 1867-‘68 and purchased 297 acres in Delaware Co.  The development they began building there became Wayne

            Elizabeth (Lizzy) Davison was the daughter of John A. Bell.

1872, May 18: Title transferred to John H. Weeks by John A. Bell

 

1876 Directory: Charles Cloud brickmaker at N. 53rd & Market

 

1878, Dec. 14: Title transferred to H. Daniel Kellner by John H. Weeks

 

1879, Feb. 20: Marriage of Emma Greef to Herman Daniel Kellner. They were married at Saint Michael’s and Zion Church, Philadelphia.  She was the widow of Jacob Fritz.

            Herman Daniel Kellner was baptized at that church in 1850.  He was born Nov. 29, 1846 to Daniel Kellner and Caroline Leopold.

 

1880:

            Herman Daniel Kellner died in Philadelphia in 1916 from pulmonary tuberculosis. 

 

1882, Apr. 13: Title transferred to Henry S. Talmann by H. Daniel Kellner

            The 1880 census and 1883 directory (from fall, 1882) list him at 313 N. 37th St.

1886: Marriage of Elizabeth Pratt to Henry S. Talman

            Elizabeth Pratt lived next door at 316 N. 37th St.

 

1887, Jun. 6: Title transferred to Hannah M. P. Allen by Henry S. Talmann

            Henry S. Talman died Oct. 5, 1908 in Woodbury, Gloucester Co., N.J.  (He was apparently buried in Philadelphia as his death was registered here.)  He was a banker.  His parents were Edward C. and Lydia Talman, both were born in the N.J.  He grew up in Woolwich, Gloucester Co., N.J. where his father was a manager of a boot and shoe business.

            Hannah Allen lived at 313 N. 37th St.  Henry S. Talman had lived there with her in 1880-1882.

1900:

H.M.P. Allen               71        Widowed; owns with a mortgage

Laura Anderson           46        Boarder; single; born in N.Y., father in Germany, mother in France

            In 1870, H.M.P. Allen was a widowed dressmaker with a daughter, Sarah M. Allen (Ward 10, ED 28).  In 1880, she lived at 313 N. 37th St.

 

1901, Feb. 1: Title transferred to George W. Hall by Hannah M. P. Allen

 

1901, Jun. 11: Title transferred to Alfred D. Hunt by George W. Hall

 

1910:

Alfred D Hunt             50        Manager, electrical supply business; father born in N.H.; owner with a mortgage

Anna R Hunt               50        Married 9 years, no children

            Alfred Day Hunt and Anna R. Smith were married in Philadelphia in 1900.  In 1900, he lived with his brother, George, and his family at 19 N. 38th St.  He listed his marital status as single.  His brother and his family lived at 3703 Hamilton St. from before 1918.  (See more family history there.) His niece still lived there in 1950.

 

1920:

1943, Apr. 30: Title transferred to William G. Leaman and Ann J., his wife by Alfred D. Hunt

            They also owned 3702 Baring St.

 

1948, Apr. 29: Title transferred (along with 3702 Baring St.) to William G. Leaman by William G. Leaman and Ann J., his wife

 

1954, Jun. 11: Title transferred (along with 3702 Baring St.) to Delia Moskine [?} by William G. Leaman

            then immediately transferred to Wallace Thomas and Minnie, his wife.
