Ann Gilchrist was the widow of W. W. Gilchrist (1818-1872). The 1868 directory lists William as a
musician living at 1602 Poplar St. along with William Gilchrist who was in the
oil business. The 1870 census lists
William, Sr. as in the cutlery business. William, Jr. was born in Jersey City,
N.J. The 1875 directory lists him at 334 (later
414) N. 33rd St. In 1880,
he lived with his wife and three children at 3311
Hamilton St.
