“two-and-one-half story, six-register, mansarded double, stone facade over
brick. Incised marble pointed arched lintels. Polychromed tile and
rosette-carved marble belt course. Pierced metal cornice, part of cornice and
mansard sheathed
with a1uminum, Central advanced mansard element. -- Contributing.”

1897: “Dr. and Mrs. W. Kay, nee Miss Mary Louden, have sent out at
home cards for Fridays in June at 3804 Spring Garden street.” (Inquirer,
May 16)
The
1900 census lists William and Mary Kay, both aged 27, and their one-year-old
son living at 8 S. 38th St. He was a dentist. They were both born in
Scotland. He immigrated in 1892. Mary’s mother, Mary Louden, age 59, was living
with them She was also born in Scotland. The household also included five
boarders and aa servant. They are also listed at that address in the 1898
directory.
