The History of the Building

 

3722-24, 3726-28: “three-story, four-register red brick Victorian doubles. Simple wood porch on 3722-24; elaborate Victorian porch on 3726-28. Pressed brick detail, corbelled brick cornice. Incised brownstone lintels”

1885 Directory (Fall, 1884): Ezekiel Lemont of E. K. Lemont & Sons, flour, 3420 Market & 319 N. Front

            The 1883 directory listed him living at 617 N. 35th. The 1880 census lists him living there (age 59) with his wife, Anna E. (49), and his sons George Percy (20) and Fred L. (13) and daughter Jessie (25). Ezekiel and Annie were born in Nova Scotia. Their children were born in Maine. In 1870, they lived in Portland, Maine. At that time, he was a carriage maker with real estate valued at $6,000 and personal property worth $5,000.

Anna Miller                 50        Servant; black; born in Maryland

            Deborah P. Livezey was the daughter of Joseph Morgan and Sarah Phipps. In 1860, they lived in Tredyffrin, Chester Co. where Joseph was a farmer.

 

1911, July 12: Death of Thomas P. Morgan, 65 years old, of 3726 Hamilton St.

            He was Deborah Livezey’s brother. In 1910, he and his wife lived at 1206 S. 52nd.

            His death was attributed to a severe heat wave. [Inquirer which gave address as 3727 and initial as M.]
