The History of the Building

 

3720-22, 3724-26, 3728-30: “three, two-and-one-half story. mansarded double by same developer; crazy quilt schist façade, brick sidewalls. Porch-fronted, most porch columns altered. Full-height first-floor windows; 2/2 double-hung segmental sash at second floor; bracketed cornice below imbricated slate-shingled mansard.”

1870, Apr. 15: Title transferred to George W. Fetter by Robert Dempster

            Robert Dempster lived at 722 Shirley. He was a retired plasterer who was born in England about 1802. In July 1870, he claimed $4,000 in real estate and $300 in personal property. He did not claim any real estate in 1860.

            Thomas Shallcross died Mar. 16, 1941 at Byberry Hospital. He had been married three times.
