3319: “The other half of 3315, but a circa 1880 red
brick Victorian double house with wood porch, segmental window at first and second
floors; pressed brick, rosettes in facade between third floor windows; two
gabled wood dormers. Same as 3321-23, 3325-27, 3329-31. --- Contributing.”

16: From the Inquirer:
“Building improvements are active at this time. Among the more important
permits issued recently by the building inspectors… seven three-story,
northeast corner Thirty-fourth and Powelton avenue….”

St. transferred to John Rea by William S. Kimball
It’s likely that Kimball had ran into financial difficulties. In
September 1883, he advertised his 15-room mansion for sale “at reduced price.”

The next day, title was transferred to Sanford P.
Campbell.

1885, Nov. 22: Title transferred to Phoebe W. Gröning by Sanford P. Campbell, et aux.
Casper
and Phoebe Gröning (later Groening) lived at 1433 N.
17th St. at the time of the 1870 and 1880 censuses. He was a
bookkeeper born in Charleston, S.C. In 1870, he claimed real estate worth
$12,000 and personal property worth $1,500. Phoebe was born in New York. Their
first daughter, Ella was also born in New York, Hattie was born in S. Carolina.
