3217 Winter Street
Previously
called Spencer Terrace
Developer: Smith
& Wendell
“This entire block,
both north and south sides, was bui1t as a single development
of doubles in 1886 by the same developer of Summer Street. The two-and-one-half
story Queen Anne-style houses are red brick with a pressed brick horizontal
band at the second-floor windows; this detail has been masked by alterations to
the brickwork in Numbers 3203 and 3205-07. The houses have front and side
projecting gables,
some with their original wood brackets, and shingles, and multi-light windows.
Original wood porches have received either minor or major alterations. Corner
houses have been demolished. --- Contributing”
