“three-story red brick Victorian rowhouse with splayed and pressed brick lintels, pressed brick belt courses and. Corbelled brick cornice. Original porch removed and replaced with, enclosed circa 1940 brown brick addition. -- Contributing.”

This house is not shown in the Scott Atlas published in 1878 but is seen in the Baist Atlas published in 1886.

1876, Jan. 8: Title transferred to Walter R. Kern by Sheriff

 

1885, Nov. 14: Title transferred to Victoria Grübnan by Walter R. Kern

 

1887 Directory: Grubnan Carl, wool, 48 N. Front St.

            The name was probably “Grübnau

            The 1883 directory lists him as “Carl A. B. Grubnan” living at 1324 N. 7th St.

 

1890, Dec. 31: Death of Victoria H. Grubnau, 7 months years old, of 314 N. 32nd St.

 

1893 Directory: Grubnan Carl, wool, 48 N. Front St.

 

1897: Directory: Grubnan Carl, wool, 48 N. Front St. & 681 Phila. Bourse

            The 1900 census shows him living in Abington, Montgomery Co. His name is spelled “Grubnaw.” He was 52 living with his wife, Victoria, four sons and three servants. He was born in Germany.

 

1899, Oct.: Advertised for rent – 11 room for $60 per month

 

1900: This house was not enumerated in this census.

 

1924, June 4: Title transferred to Abraham Kravitz by Victoria Grübnan

 

1924, June 20: Title transferred to August L. Rothenburg, Lizzie Brown by Abraham Kravitz

 

1925, June 18: Title transferred to  by August L. Rothenburg, Lizzie Brown
