Powelton Village Interactive Property Map

The interactive map combines an architectural inventory and a social history of Powelton Village .  The basic map image is from the 1927 Bromely Atlas of the 24th Ward of Philadelphia.  Houses that were torn down before 1927 are shown as red boxes.  The information page for each house offers census data and biographies with links to sources, previous and subsequent addresses of the occupants, and neighboring houses.

Click on the picture of the map above to bring up the interactive map.  Then click on any house to get a photo and information about it and the people who lived there.

The map draws on the following information:

- The U. S. censuses of 1860-1930

- The 1984 Architectural Survey

- Numerous city directories, maps, membership lists, and Boyd’s Blue Books.

- A wide variety of biographical and historical sources many of which are available on the web.
